Resolve, Directing the Department of Transportation To Name a Bridge between Kennebunk and Kennebunkport the Mathew Lanigan Bridge
Emergency preamble. Whereas, acts and resolves of the Legislature do not become effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as emergencies; and
Whereas, this resolve names a bridge in honor of a beloved local citizen who recently passed away; and
Whereas, it is important to the local community to honor the late Mathew Lanigan, a prominent citizen, and to keep his memory alive through the naming of this bridge between the Town of Kennebunk and the Town of Kennebunkport to honor his memory for all his contributions to the community; and
Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, therefore, be it
Sec. 1. Bridge between Kennebunk and Kennebunkport named. Resolved: That the Department of Transportation shall designate the bridge on State Route 9 that crosses the Kennebunk River between the Town of Kennebunk and the Town of Kennebunkport the Mathew Lanigan Bridge.
Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, this legislation takes effect when approved.
