An Act To Amend the Laws Governing Payment of Fees to Registers of Deeds
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 33 MRSA §751, sub-§15, as repealed and replaced by PL 1971, c. 321, is repealed and the following enacted in its place:
15. When payable. Fees provided by this section must be paid when the instrument is offered for recording. Fees payable by the State are paid monthly by the department or agency requesting the recording, upon receipt of a bill by the register of deeds. The department or agency must pay the bill within 10 days of receipt of the bill. Fees paid for the recording of a document by a company, state or federal agency or department that has an automated clearinghouse automatic deposit agreement with the registry of deeds must be paid in accordance with that agreement.
