Resolve, Directing the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife To Study Issues Related to Bear Hunting and Management
Sec. 1. Study. Resolved: That the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife shall study issues relating to bear hunting and the management of the bear population in the State. The study must analyze the advantages and disadvantages of holding a spring bear hunting season and other methods of managing the bear population in the State. As part of its study, the department shall seek input from persons interested in the management of the bear population and issues related to bear hunting. The department shall report the results of the study, including any legislation necessary to implement its recommendations, to the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife by January 15, 2014. The joint standing committee may report out a bill to the Second Regular Session of the 126th Legislature to implement its recommendations related to the report.
Summary
This resolve requires the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to study issues related to bear hunting and the management of the bear population in the State and report the results of its study to the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife by January 15, 2014. The committee is authorized to report out a bill to implement its recommendations related to the report.
