An Act To Rename Big Moose Mountain as Red Eagle Mountain
Sec. 1. 23 MRSA §1201, sub-§13, as amended by PL 2001, c. 244, §2, is further amended to read:
Sec. 2. Name change from Big Moose Mountain to Red Eagle Mountain. The county commissioners of Piscataquis County shall change the name of the mountain in Piscataquis County named Big Moose Mountain to Red Eagle Mountain in honor of Chief Henry Red Eagle. The county commissioners shall provide notice of the new name to the Commissioner of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, the Secretary of the United States Department of the Interior and other public agencies, boards, committees or groups responsible for changing names of places and ensuring that such name changes appear on maps and other documents.
Sec. 3. Commissioner of Transportation and Executive Director of Maine Turnpike Authority to replace signs. The Commissioner of Transportation shall replace any sign that is located on the interstate highway that contains a reference to Big Moose Mountain to comply with section 2 no later than 30 days after the effective date of this Act. The Executive Director of the Maine Turnpike Authority shall change any sign containing a reference to Big Moose Mountain to comply with section 2 no later than 30 days after the effective date of this Act.
