An Act To Limit Political Contributions by Public Employee Labor Unions
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 21-A MRSA §1015, sub-§10 is enacted to read:
10. Public employee labor union. A public employee labor union may not make a contribution to a candidate or in behalf of a candidate, directly or indirectly, for the purpose of promoting the success or defeat of any candidate at any state primary or general election for statewide office. For purposes of this subsection, "public employee labor union" includes an officer, director, executive, agent or employee acting on behalf of such union, or any organization representing or affiliated with any such union, or any officer, director, executive, agent or employee acting on behalf of such an organization.
