An Act To Allow Students To Audit Classes at University of Maine System Campuses
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §10910 is enacted to read:
§ 10910. Auditing classes
1. Auditing permitted. The university shall allow a student to audit a class under the following circumstances:
A. The auditing student may attend all classes and participate in all class activities but may not take examinations or have assignments graded;
B. The auditing student may be a matriculated or nonmatriculated student;
C. The class may not be full;
D. A student who is enrolled to audit a class must be unenrolled if necessary to permit a student who is not auditing to enroll; and
E. An auditing student may not receive credit or grades for auditing the class.
2. Costs related to auditing a class. The university shall charge a fee for auditing a class that is no less than $50 and no more than $250. A student auditing a class must pay the costs of all materials, lab fees and other fees required for the course.
