An Act To Abolish the Maine Turnpike Authority and Transfer Its Functions and Duties to the Department of Transportation
Sec. 1. 23 MRSA c. 24, as amended, is repealed.
Sec. 2. Transition. Any rights, duties, obligations and powers belonging to the Maine Turnpike Authority are transferred to and assumed by the Department of Transportation on January 1, 2015. The department shall submit a plan, together with the necessary implementing legislation, to the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation no later than January 1, 2014 to accomplish this transition. This plan must include the mechanisms necessary for the department to assume all the rights, duties, obligations and powers of the Maine Turnpike Authority by January 1, 2015.
Sec. 3. Revisor's review; cross-references. The Revisor of Statutes shall review the Maine Revised Statutes and include in the errors and inconsistencies bill submitted to the Second Regular Session of the 126th Legislature pursuant to Title 1, section 94 any sections necessary to correct and update any cross-references in the statutes to provisions of law repealed in this Act.
Sec. 4. Effective date. That section of this Act that repeals the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 23, chapter 24 takes effect January 1, 2015.
