An Act To Protect Doctors Who Prescribe a Complementary Course of Treatment and To Provide Insurance Coverage for That Treatment
Sec. 1. 24-A MRSA §4316-A is enacted to read:
§ 4316-A. Complementary medicine
A carrier shall provide coverage in all health plans for medicine or treatment that is prescribed or provided by a physician licensed under Title 32, chapter 48 if that medicine or treatment is within the scope of practice of a person licensed by the Board of Complementary Health Care Providers under Title 32, chapter 113-B.
Sec. 2. 32 MRSA §3282-A, sub-§3 is enacted to read:

This bill provides that the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, Board of Licensure in Medicine may not bring disciplinary action against a physician who prescribes or provides medicine or treatment that is authorized for a complementary health care provider. The bill also requires such treatment to be covered under health insurance plans.
