An Act To Ensure That Essential Programs and Services Targeted Funding Follows the Secondary Student
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §5805, sub-§6 is enacted to read:
6. Per-pupil funding. Notwithstanding subsections 1 and 2, beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, a sending school administrative unit shall include in tuition paid to a receiving school administrative unit the amounts attributable to the per-pupil amounts received by the sending unit for cocurricular and extracurricular activities under section 15680, subsection 1, paragraph D, as targeted funds to implement a standards-based system under section 15681, subsection 2-A and as targeted technology resource funds under section 15681, subsection 3.
Sec. 2. 20-A MRSA §5806, sub-§4 is enacted to read:

Notwithstanding subsections 1 and 3, beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, a sending school administrative unit shall include in tuition paid to a receiving private school the amounts attributable to the per-pupil amounts received by the sending unit for cocurricular and extracurricular activities under section 15680, subsection 1, paragraph D, as targeted funds to implement a standards-based system under section 15681, subsection 2-A and as targeted technology resource funds under section 15681, subsection 3.

This bill provides that a school administrative unit sending a secondary school student to another public school or a private school must pay to the receiving school, in addition to tuition, per-pupil amounts for cocurricular and extracurricular activities and targeted funds for implementation of a standards-based system and technology resources.
