Resolve, Directing the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife To Study and Make Recommendations Regarding the Bear Hunting Season
Sec. 1. Study and recommendations. Resolved: That the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife shall study issues relating to identifying conflicts that exist in the open bear hunting seasons in the State. The study must analyze the overlapping of the open season during which bait may be used to hunt bear and the open season on using a dog or dogs in conjunction with bear hunting. In analyzing the overlapping of the separate seasons that use bait and dogs, the department shall identify conflicts of the separate methods and shall report the results of the study, including any legislation necessary to implement its recommendations, to the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife by January 15, 2014. The committee may report out a bill to the Second Regular Session of the 126th Legislature to implement its recommendations related to the report.
