An Act To Promote Healthy School Lighting
Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §15919 is enacted to read:
§ 15919. School lighting
For all new or replacement classroom lighting, a public school shall install and maintain lighting that meets color rendition standards adopted by rule by the department. Standards adopted by the department must ensure that the lighting has a color rendering index value of 90 or higher as determined in accordance with procedures and standards established by the International Commission on Illumination or as verified by the United States Department of Energy. Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.
