An Act To Expand Student Access to Certain Career Information and Opportunities
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 20-A MRSA §1001, sub-§20 is enacted to read:
20. Career exploration program. Each school board of a public secondary school, including a governing board of a public charter secondary school, shall adopt a policy authorizing the implementation of the armed services vocational aptitude battery career exploration program on school grounds developed by the United States Department of Defense to help high school students learn about career exploration and planning. The policy must ensure that interested students are provided with the opportunity to participate in and complete the program.

This bill requires school boards to allow implementation of the armed services vocational aptitude battery career exploration program developed by the United States Department of Defense. The program consists of aptitude testing, completion of a student interest inventory and use of career exploration guides and activities.
