An Act To Ensure That Local Businesses Are Notified of Construction Projects
Sec. 1. 23 MRSA §4210-F is enacted to read:
§ 4210-F. Notification of construction project
The department shall directly notify by letter, telephone, e-mail or in person a business of a construction project if that business has on-site customers and is in the vicinity of the project and give the business the opportunity to identify and comment on concerns during the planning phase of the project.
Sec. 2. 30-A MRSA §2007 is enacted to read:
§ 2007. Notification of construction project
A municipality shall directly notify by letter, telephone, e-mail or in person a business of a construction project if that business has on-site customers and is in the vicinity of the project and give the business the opportunity to identify and comment on concerns during the planning phase of the project.
Sec. 3. 30-A MRSA §2358 is enacted to read:
§ 2358. Notification of construction project
A quasi-municipal corporation or district shall directly notify by letter, telephone, e-mail or in person a business of a construction project if that business has on-site customers and is in the vicinity of the project and give the business the opportunity to identify and comment on concerns during the planning phase of the project.
SUMMARY
This bill requires the Department of Transportation, a municipality or a quasi-municipal corporation or district to directly notify by letter, telephone, e-mail or in person a business of a construction project if that business has on-site customers and is in the vicinity of the project and give the business an opportunity to identify and comment on concerns during the planning phase of the project.
