Waiving the filing
fee in a divorce action for a person who has a protection from abuse order
against the defendant when the complaint is filed will reduce General Fund
revenue by $120 per filing. The total
revenue loss cannot be estimated at this time because the number of divorce
proceedings that involve a protection from abuse order is not known. If 10% of the total number of divorce
filings meet the criteria of this bill, the General Fund revenue loss would
be $78,000 annually. |
