This bill includes
a one-time General Fund appropriation of $49,750 in fiscal year 2013-14 to
the School Finance and Operations program within the Department of Education
for the costs associated with contracting with security experts to evaluate
school preparedness and facility security and make recommendations for
measures that may be taken to improve security in schools. Of this amount, the Department of Education
estimates that it will take a security consultant approximately 250 hours at
a rate of $125 per hour, or approximately $31,250, to evaluate school
preparedness and develop the required recommendations. The Department also estimates it will take
an additional 100 hours at a rate of $150 per hour, or approximately $15,000,
for an architect planner to evaluate building security and develop
recommendations. Finally, the
Department anticipates additional costs of $3,500 related to mileage,
printing and other miscellaneous expenses associated with conducting the
evaluation. |
