This bill
temporarily exempts solar photovoltaic systems and solar thermal systems from
the sales tax and results in a reduction in General Fund revenue and in the
transfer to the Local Government Fund of $532,950 and $28,050, respectively,
in fiscal year 2014-15. The sales tax exemption will expire on December 31,
2016. |

Any additional
costs to Efficiency Maine Trust for monitoring federal tax credits for
residential energy efficiency are expected to be minor and can be absorbed
within existing budgeted resources. |
