The bill requires
the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (ACF) to monitor and
take certain steps to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. When
there is a mosquito-borne disease public health threat, ACF must implement an
effective management response. This bill creates the Maine Mosquito
Management Fund within ACF to carry out these activities and contains an
allocation of $500 in fiscal year 2014-15 to establish the fund. Additional
costs to the Department of Health and Human Services are assumed to be minor
and can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources. |
