Request for a Review
OPEGA performs independent program evaluations and reviews of State agencies and programs and may also evaluate other governmental and non-governmental entities funded by the State. A request for an OPEGA review must meet the following criteria to be considered by the Government Oversight Committee:
- The request must be initiated or Sponsored by a Legislator; and
- It must be submitted in writing on the OPEGA Review Request Form, or in a letter that contains substantially the same information as required on the form.
Program evaluations and reviews conducted by OPEGA, at the direction of the GOC, focus on systemic issues in State agencies and programs. Review requests stemming from individual complaints or allegations stemming from personal situations are generally not considered, unless: (1) there is evidence that the individual complaint could be the result of a systemic issue with a government program or activity; or (2) the request involves an alleged action that may violate the law, is economically wasteful, or suggests gross misconduct, incompetency or inefficiency.
